Fishing Time

We decided to take off this past weekend for a little R&R and to see if we can catch some fish.

We ended up doing a lot of napping because the wind was causing some huge white caps on the lake.

Damian did get a little taste of fishing right off the bridge next to the trailer.

Even Grandpa and Grandma came up to join us for a few hours.

All in all it was a great weekend to slow down and do some family bonding. In the end there is no place like home though and it was so good to missed while we were gone.

Say what you need to say...

I have been sitting here listening to John Mayer's song "Say" over and over for the past half hour. I do silly things like that every once and a while. The words just keep haunting me as I think about all the times I have not said what I needed to say. Maybe it was out of fear, or maybe it was just because I was too prideful to humbly admit I was wrong. Whatever the reasons are, they are words left unspoken.

We have been reading a book called "One Month to Live" over the past few months. This book and this song really have touched my life. They remind me of how we get so busy in life at times that we forget to live. What I mean by that is, we forget to enjoy the blessings of our family and friends. We don't take time to appreciate the beauty surrounding us every day. So many times we pause and ask God to come into our lives when He has been there all along; just waiting for us to slow down long enough to notice.

I keep asking myself, "what is it I need to say today?" Then I hear this small voice inside of me telling me I don't need to say anything. All I need to do today is quiet myself long enough to hear what God wants to say.

Maybe your life has been a whirlwind lately, you may be having the best time of your life or you may facing the most challenging time you have ever had to face. I don't know what circumstances you are in as you read this, but I encourage you today to sit and listen as you whisper this prayer with me to God..."Say what you need to say".

You never know what you might hear.

Blessings,
Shelly

Be a safe & courteous driver

IMG_0179

I saw this sign a few weeks ago when I was dropping Damian off for his first day of Driver's Training. It is a good reminder to the students to be safe and courteous on the roads. Now, I realize how much more safe and courteous I pray others on the road are too; because today it became official, our oldest son can drive.

It all started a few weeks back when Damian began attending Driver's Ed training here in town. Before we knew what was happening he was jumping in the car with his official "blue card".

He had to wait almost a week, but on Monday he took his written test and passed. Today we went to the DMV and got his official learner's permit. This resulted in Damian driving me home from the edge of town. He was nervous; I was thrilled! He is one step closer to having the independence he deserves.

Way to go Damian!! We are so proud of you.

Hear me roar!

IMG_0056

Can you hear her roar like a ferocious lion? Neither can we.

Instead all we get is yawns of boredom

She is so funny! Enjoy.
